Overview
Affordable Living & Supportive Services (“ALSS,” “we,” “us”) provides housing, health, financial wellness, and workforce support to Maryland Medicaid members at no cost. This policy explains what information we collect through affordablelivingservices.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
- Referral and eligibility information you submit when starting a self-referral or contacting us
- Account information for client and staff portals, including your email address and a securely hashed password
- Case information such as appointment requests, documents you upload (for example identification or proof of income), and messages to your assigned case worker
- Information submitted through the partner-application form, if you represent an organization applying to partner with ALSS
Information Collected Automatically
We use privacy-focused analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) to understand overall site traffic, such as which pages are visited and how often. This does not use tracking cookies and does not build an individual profile of you.
How We Use Your Information
- To evaluate eligibility and process your referral or enrollment
- To connect you with the ALSS case worker assigned to your case
- To schedule and manage appointments
- To send account-related emails, such as password resets and referral or partner-application confirmations
- To maintain the security of client and staff portals
- To improve the site based on aggregate usage patterns
Who We Share Information With
We do not sell your information. We share it only in these circumstances:
- With the ALSS staff member assigned to your case, and with an administrator if needed for coverage or oversight
- With a partner organization, but only as part of a referral you request or that your case worker discusses with you first
- With service providers who help us operate the site under confidentiality obligations — currently Vercel (hosting), Resend (transactional email), and Google (staff sign-in verification)
- When required by law, or to protect the safety of a client, staff member, or the public
Account Security
Client passwords are never stored in plain text — they're cryptographically hashed before being saved. Staff sign in with their organizational Google account rather than a separate password. Password-reset links expire after one hour and are single-use.
Data Retention
We retain case-related information for as long as your case is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet recordkeeping and reporting obligations. You can request deletion of your account information at any time using the contact details below; case records tied to services already delivered may need to be retained longer where required by funders or law.
Your Rights & Choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or ask questions about how it's used, by contacting us below. If you have a client account, you can also update most of your own information directly from your profile.
Children's Privacy
This site is intended for use by adults managing their own case or referral. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children through this website.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date below reflects the most recent update; continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
